In a disturbing twist to an already controversial story, a Missouri man is facing murder charges after allegedly shooting and killing a clown who was performing in his yard.
According to the Springfield News-Leader, 25-year-old Matthew Kline was arrested Wednesday on an outstanding warrant for attempted murder stemming from the shooting of 26-year tote member of the Clown Association of America, the nation’s largest clown collective.
The news outlet says Kline allegedly shot and killed the clown because he didn’t like the look of him.
The Clown Association claims that Kline is not its member and was actually fired from the organization after he threatened to kill one of its members.
Kline is being held in the Springfield Jail.
He is scheduled to appear in court again on July 20.
